WILLIAM J. HOLMES (3-26-1961) The funeral for William J. Holmes, 81, 1115 S. Santa Fe, will be at 2 pm Wednesday at the First Methodist Church, the Rev. Harold Soulen officiating. Mr. Holmes, a lifetime resident of Saline County, was an elevator operator and employee of the Shellabarger Mill and Elevator, known now as the International Milling Co., for more than 50 years. He died Sunday at 720 S. 5th of old age. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes lived in the Mary Dell and Bavaria communities until they moved to Salina in 1915. Mrs. Holmes died in 1950. Mr. Holmes was a member of the First Methodist Church. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Tom Stevens, Culver. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Mausoleum at the Gypsum Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel Funeral Home until noon Wednesday, and from noon until the time of the service at the First Methodist Church. |
